Some know it as the Rolling Plains. Others call it Cowboy Alley. A land of open road and enormous sky, the Big Empty lies more or less north of Abilene and east of Lubbock. Larger than some states, with a population smaller than many urban zip codes, the seldom-traveled chunk of prairie is home to red-dirt farms and huge ranches, from the Pitchfork and Matador to the Four Sixes. This site represents a group of artists from that area of Texas, our home. Our art is varied as the people who lived here. Raw and rugged as the scrub brush,; soft snd warm as the sand of the Brazos River bottom; free and daring as the coyote; sometimes timid as the cotton tale. Browse our site. Get acquainted with each of the artists and experience The Big Empty.
