Some know it as the Rolling Plains. Others call it Cowboy Alley. A land of open road and enormous sky, the Big Empty lies more or less north of Abilene and east of Lubbock. Larger than some states, with a population smaller than many urban zip codes, the seldom-traveled chunk of prairie is home to red-dirt farms and huge ranches, from the Pitchfork and Matador to the Four Sixes. Kelly Richards Millican is a Texan from the Big Empty Area. She has had a long and fulfilling career as a rescuer in Texas. She has been a certified Paramedic for over 35 years, an EMS and Fire Education Coordinator; and has spent most of her career in the Fire Service. After leaving the Fire Service, she has stepped into the role as Deputy Emergency Manager for her county.
Most of Ms. Millican's art is based upon experiences in the rescue world however; she also has a long history with rural life. Farming, Ranching and Rodeo Life run through her veins.
